Volunteer Opportunities
WEEKLY VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Morning Animal Caretaker
-
We have multiple morning shifts throughout the week
-
They are typically between 9 am and noon depending on the time of year
-
This shift usually lasts about three hours
-
May involve prepping and feeding the morning ration for the majority of our rescues
-
Refreshing or replacing their water containers
-
Cleaning dishes and enclosures
-
Socializing or enrichment
-
Assisting staff with projects if/ as needed

Evening Animal Caretaker
-
We have multiple evening shifts throughout the week
-
Typically between 4 and 8 pm depending on the time of year
-
This shift typically lasts about three hours
-
May involve prepping and feeding the evening ration for the majority of our rescues
-
Refreshing or replacing their water containers
-
Cleaning dishes and enclosures
-
Socializing or enrichment
-
Assisting staff with projects if/ as needed

BI-MONTHLY OR MONTHLY VOLUNTEERS
-
Morning or evening shift
-
This shift typically lasts between three to four hours
-
May involve cleaning, organizing, possible construction, and socializing with rescues
​
SINGLE EVENT VOLUNTEERS
-
Date and time will be listed on the initial announcement
-
This shift typically lasts between two to four hours depending on the event if on-site. Off-site events will vary.

REQUIREMENTS
-
Be able to commit to the shift(s) you signed up for (excluding holidays, emergencies, severe weather, etc.)

Minimum commitment of four months*

You must be 18 years or older to volunteer
-
In special circumstances, we do allow someone between 13 and 17 years old to volunteer as long as they are accompanied by their guardian that is 18 or older**
-
Sign a liability waiver in person
-
Be able to lift up to 30 to 50 pounds (exceptions for medical reasons, health issues, etc.)

Be able to withstand working outdoors for a few hours throughout the year in the rain, heat, and cold
-
Join our Slack TTAS Volunteer group to communicate with staff and volunteers*
-
Thoroughly read our volunteer manual and agree to our policies*
-
Care for the animals in a gentle, compassionate, and respectful manner
PROCESS
-
In-person interview*
-
Participate in training before volunteering unsupervised
-
One month probationary period*
-
Continue to participate in training and attend workshops as needed*
RULES
Our volunteers are

Not allowed to feed any additional food items to the rescues as this can lead to severe health issues
-
Are allowed to take pictures and videos after their shift is completed following our media policy and guidelines
-
Are mindful of our rescues' demeanors, sizes, strengths, and current moods
-
Must have permission to be on the property at any time other than their weekly shift(s)

**WE DO ALLOW YOUNGER (10 AND OLDER) VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR ONE TIME EVENTS IF PRESENT WITH THEIR GUARDIAN
